Embarcadero FCU Annual Writing Contest
Students must write and send in a 1,000 to 1,500 word essay on "Credit Unions, A Financial Alternative" along with the application form. Guidelines are listed below and must be met in order to qualify. Entries must be postmarked by May 16, 2008.

Eligibility
Open to high school students in the 11th grade through college sophomores. Only EFCU members and children of EFCU members are eligible.

Essay Guidelines:

  1. Typed, double-spaced
  2. Pages must be numbered.
  3. 8.5" x 11" paper
  4. Cover sheet including name, title of essay, grade level, phone number, address and number of words in the essay.
  5. List of source references

Content
Write a 1,000 to 1,500 word essay discussing the difference between credit unions and traditional financial institutions. Include a narrative that discusses the court case, the Credit Union Membership Act and what it means to members and potential members of the future.

The Scholarship committe will be judging your essay based on content, grammar, punctuation and your ability to follow instructions.
